About The Instructor

Peter in Normandy

Peter is the founder of Adventure French and the instructor for all of our courses.

Peter's parents love to travel abroad, so he was exposed to foreign languages from an early age. This exposure ignited a fascination and enthusiasm for languages that continues to this day, and was the motivation for the creation of Adventure French. Peter still loves to travel, and can often be seen tromping around the world with his backpack during summers. Peter earned degrees in French and International Relations from Edgewood College, in Madison, Wisconsin, where he graduated summa cum laude, and was even chosen to represent his graduating class as commencement speaker. During his college career, Peter developed fluency in the French language while spending a semester studying French at the University of Caen, in Normandy, France. He has since returned numerous times to the region to visit the friends he made while studying there.

Peter remembers the difficulty that he and his parents had trying to find a foreign language program that was effective and well-organized for home study. Many of the programs he tried were difficult to use,and failed to provide the in-depth understanding of the language that is vital to continued growth. In his work as a private tutor, he has been exposed to many of the different foreign language programs that are currently available, and has found that many still lack the depth and accessibility needed to help students really learn a language.

This is where the story of Adventure French begins. Peter was convinced there was better way to learn a foreign language at home, and has used his years of language study and private tutoring experience to create the Adventure French program. As a result, you will find Adventure French to be custom tailored for self-study and home education.

Peter still works as a private tutor for French, Spanish, and several other academic subjects when he is not engaged in teaching the students of Adventure French.
